Moscow metro expands further to Rumyantsevo
18.01.16
On Monday, January 18th new metro station Rumyantsevo has been opened for commuters by Moscow mayor Sobyanin. This is not only the first two story station in Moscow metro but also the first station in the New Moscow region. Tunnelling on the one-station extension began in July 2013. Like Troparyevo, Rumyantsevo station is 12 m underground, and will remain as the southern terminus of Line 1 until an extension to Salaryevo opens later this year. This will also bring a new depot into use.

Rumyantsevo is located in the south-west part of the city outside Moscow ring road and close by to the same named business district. Station offers commuters places to charge gadgets, buy tea, coffee and even pizza from multiple vending machines. It is also equipped with information kiosks where passengers can find useful interactive metro maps and other services. Station is fully accessible for disabled passengers and fitted with special lifts. New state of the art fare collection gates UT-2000.9, designed and made by CJSC ELSY allow commuters to use not only regular transport cards but also contactless bank cards to pay fare.
