The innovative project is being implemented at Almaty "Metropolitan" by the international payment system MasterCard in Almaty metro. All passengers can now pay the fare directly at the turnstiles using the bank cards with contactless payment technology, in particular, using contactless MasterCard PayPass payment technology. Almaty metro is the fifth in the world that has this technology up and running after London, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev. The project involved Electronic Systems CJSC work in integrating existing ticketing solution including fare gates with MS payment system.
